Melissa Bastian
Where I am from:	I grew up in Watertown, SD and graduated from high school as a Watertown Arrow. My dad is a retired teacher and my mom was a nurse and now works at Premier Bank Card in Watertown.   I have one younger sister, Angie. Angie and my brother-in-law Mike live in Watertown with their three wonderful kids - Christopher, Jennifer, and Benjamin.
Education & Work:	I spent my first year of college at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. It was an exciting first year of college as I enjoyed cheering on the Cornhuskers. I transferred to Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD for the remainder of my college career. I graduated in December 2001 with my teaching degree.   I have been teaching in Milbank since the beginning of the 2007 school year. I enjoy the students and my co-workers and look forward to coming to "work" each day.   In May of 2012 I earned my Masters in Educational Studies with an emphasis in school counseling from Northern State University.
Fun stuff:	In July of 2006, I married Matt Bastian, who is also a teacher in Milbank. Matt teaches high school math and is a middle school football coach and the head boys basketball coach. We have three wonderful and amazing children; two daughters: Harper and Hadley and a son: Quinn.
